The Importance of Handicap Bathroom Accessories and Fittings Part Seven

Obviously the first reason is that it's not pleasant for either you or whoever is helping you to have to wash you. This can be something that is quite embarrassing for both parties and you might find that they feel awkward doing it or even request not to. At the same time you yourself will likely find it to be an unsettling experience and something that makes you feel more disabled than you necessarily are and takes away some of your self dignity and autonomy.

You will probably try in most cases to use a carer, but doing so will mean that first of all you need to wait for your carer to get to your property. Usually they will come around all the locations in your area on a rotor and will attend to you each in order. This then means that you will be helped to shower at a set time daily and this can be very restrictive – it means you won't be able to watch what you want to on television, it means that you won't be able to attend parties and social events (or that you'll have to be back in time if you do), it means you won't be able to stay at another person's home and it means you are forced into a body clock you don't necessarily want.
